Merry Christmas 



This picture was taken at St. Mark's United Methodist Preschool just after Silas debuted in the role of an angel. Silas is 4, Josie is 7, and we will refrain from mentioning the ages of the others in the picture. If you look closely you can see the cookie that Silas has already been enjoying, and you can also see the tooth that Josie lost in England when the family traveled there to visit my parents for a long week over Thanksgiving.

We are wishing you all a beautiful Christmas, a blessed New Year, and an abiding sense that the treasured Christ child is, in fact, bringing us closer to His peace.

One of my favorite quotes of all time has its reference here at this quiet time. "The Bible is the cradle in which the Christ child was laid." It seems that in the hurry of this season, the hustle and bustle, we truly do need to gather around, with our candles blazing, and simply be still and know.
